Try this 3 balloon cue on your next run

Two simple adjustments you can make to your running that will help make your stride lighter, quicker and your running more effortless are: to lift out of your hips and to keep your head up.

Try this 3-balloon cue on your next run

To help you get into this nice tall running posture – Imagine 2 balloons tied to your hips, one on each side, and a 3rd balloon tied to your head. Imagine the balloons gentle lifting up your hips and your head. You will instantly feel lighter and quicker. Especially when going uphill.

One thing to watch out for though is leaning back as you get taller, in a sense moving your shoulders behind the balloons. So, as you do this exercise, in your mind, make sure your shoulders are in line with the balloons. i.e., stacked on top of your ribs, on top of your hips.

This will be challenging to imagine for a whole 10k run! - so just focus on the balloons for 100m segments every now and then on the run.

Give it a go and let me know how you get on.

Onwards and upwards!
